Baroness Susan Greenfield CBE is a neuroscientist, writer and broadcaster who is a leader in her field. She wanted a website befitting of her status that would also help her connect further with her supporters and followers, act as a hub for all her content and help her gain more speaking roles and media work.
Her existing website was basic, very old-fashioned and inconsistent with the public image of someone so highly feted within such an impressive area of expertise.
The brief was for our sister company Perfect Web Design to re-brand the Baroness by designing and building a new website with a cool, slick interface that offered a point of difference from her peers. They also designed a new logo, new CV, and new email footer and stationery.
Superluminal was then tasked with adding the PWA (progressive web app) code, and custom video components to the project.
Our Solution
Website / PWA Combination:
The challenge with this project was to make the website serve a dual purpose, being both a website and a PWA.
However, this was important as creating a PWA meant that the website could be installed as an app on any device and re-opened at any time by a follower.
Bespoke Technical solution:
We designed and built mechanisms to present 2 High-Definition Videos that our sister company had filmed and edited in house, according to the device they are being viewed on. With our advanced code and techniques there are none of the performance issues normally associated with Videos of this size, length and quality being delivered via a website.
Notifications:
We also proposed a custom web push notifications service to enable fully branded and rich content to be delivered to a follower at any time. A further benefit is that this service is delivered at no cost, unlike native mobile app push notifications.
Latest Technology:
Using ASP.NET Core running on Microsoft Azure, we created a product that was ideal for the client’s needs and performs very well.

Design: The resulting web app is a slick and informative resource that allows Baroness Susan
to display video and audio from her speaking roles as well as pointing to her area of expertise and guiding users
to the books that she has written.
PWA Communication features:
It also enables her to stay in full contact with her followers at all times, creating more engagement and interaction.

The App guarantees a consistent look, functionality and user experience regardless of the device from which it is accessed.
